DiversiTech Runs 12 ERPs and One Commerce Layer –on Purpose
Case Study Overview
Nineteen acquisitions in total, 11 in the last three years. At that pace, the back end gets messy fast: 12 ERPs running in parallel, order intake still arriving by email and fax, customer service teams manually rekeying line items, and no reliable way to link a packing slip to the order record it belongs to.
The fix wasn’t ERP consolidation that takes years. DiversiTech needed a commercial layer that could stay consistent while the back end kept changing.
That’s where OroCommerce came in. One platform now handles customer records, pricing logic, ordering workflows, and order-to-cash activity across North America and Europe, including the nine ERP environments still running in parallel during their Dynamics 365 migration.
“OroCommerce is an integral part of our global enterprise. It sits at the center of our commercial workflows and supports the pipeline from early sales activity through fulfillment. That shared foundation helps our teams operate consistently, even as we scale and consolidate systems behind the scenes.”
— Shandra Williams, Enterprise Technology & Integration Strategy Lead, DiversiTech
The AI piece followed naturally from that foundation. Because OroCommerce already held the customer records, pricing logic, and ERP connections, deploying OroIQ SmartOrder didn’t require routing data outside the secured environment or standing up a separate intake tool.
In North America, SmartOrder converts emailed and faxed orders into draft orders instead of manual rekeying – a 20% productivity gain for the customer service team.
In Europe, it normalizes order intake across nine different ERP contexts and routes everything into the Dynamics 365 fulfillment flow, eliminating the need for a separate ETL layer.
The same platform also replaced Salesforce, consolidating CRM and commerce in one license.
For a company growing through acquisitions, the strategic value compounds: new businesses can be onboarded into a consistent commercial process without creating duplicate customer records, and historical performance data stays intact across pre- and post-acquisition periods.
