How Fibre Glast Transformed its Ecommerce Experience with Shopify Plus
Case Study Overview
Fibre Glast is a leading supplier of composite materials, including carbon fiber, fiberglass, resins, vacuum bagging materials, and more, serving both B2B and B2C markets. With exclusive supply relationships and a reputation for superior service, the company has built a strong foothold in the industry.
Challenges
Fibre Glast’s existing ecommerce platform was outdated, posing security risks, performance limitations, and poor scalability. Managing the website required a full team of developers, making updates time-consuming and inefficient. The platform also lacked SEO optimization and robust B2C conversion capabilities, limiting visibility and revenue potential. Additionally, Fibre Glast needed better B2B functionality, including improved quoting tools and streamlined bulk ordering processes.
Solution
Americaneagle.com re-platformed Fibre Glast’s website to Shopify Plus, implementing a user-friendly design, improved navigation, and advanced product filtering to enhance conversions. A robust product data migration was executed to transfer intricate data while ensuring seamless integration with Fibre Glast’s existing ERP, MACH. To maintain real-time pricing accuracy, automated price updates were implemented, reducing manual effort and improving operational efficiency. A custom Python script was developed to properly format all product details for Shopify, streamlining the migration process and ensuring data consistency across the platform.
To improve B2B sales, Shopify’s Quick Order functionality was introduced on every product display page to enable bulk ordering and quantity discount pricing. Checkout customizations such as pay-by-terms options and third-party shipping account usage provide additional flexibility. A Materials Calculator was developed, allowing customers to estimate the amount of material needed for specific projects, enhancing purchasing decisions.
Fibre Glast’s Learning Center was built using Shopify Blogs, offering whitepapers, brochures, videos, and conversion charts to provide industry resources to clients and prospects. Additionally, a post-purchase survey was implemented at checkout, incentivizing customers with a discount on future orders and contributing to a high Bizrate score.
The new Fibre Glast website includes key integrations to improve functionality and efficiency. A self-identifying customer class field at checkout enables segmented email marketing flows through an integration with Mailchimp, allowing for more personalized communication.
Additionally, Shop Pay integration streamlines the checkout process, enhancing the user experience and boosting conversions.
To optimize order fulfillment and logistics, freight rate integration with Intuitive Shipping provides precise shipping costs, while the MACH ERP system automates pricing updates, inventory synchronization, and fulfillment processes. Fibre Glast’s Google Shopping and Google Business feed further strengthens its online presence, keeping product listings up to date and easily discoverable for potential customers.
Since launch, Fibre Glast has experienced a smoother purchasing process and enhanced site performance, making transactions more seamless for customers. The new Shopify Plus platform is easy to maintain, empowering the internal team to manage updates independently without relying on developers. By modernizing its ecommerce platform, Fibre Glast is now equipped to scale its business efficiently, better serve its B2B and B2C customers, and maintain its competitive edge in the composite materials industry.
